Wow, you have to really admire and appreciate the good folks at the Aurora store. They are in the midst of the Anita Goodesign event this weekend, and will turn around and get ready for October Sew Fun on Tuesday! Hardly time to catch their breath in between.
Come welcome our new presenter, Lisa, at our October Sew Fun. She is all set to help you get prepared for fall and winter and all the holidays those entail. Get inspired with ideas for decorations, garments, and gifts. In addition to our usual books, patterns and notions, we have mini charms packs from five different fabric lines to take the guesswork out of planning your projects.
The holidays always inspire creativity, and fall is a great time to snuggle up at home and get some sewing done. Whether sewing for yourself or making something for someone special on your gift list, we have many options for you this month. Here’s a sneak peek at a couple of the projects Lisa will show us.
Handmade Style
Handmade Style showcases blogger Anna Graham’s talent for creating cleverly constructed pieces with simple, clean lines. It’s the first sewing book ever to present a collection of projects specifically designed to complement each other. Create a cohesive, sophisticated, fresh look from top to bottom for your home. Handmade Style is a beautifully photographed book with clear instructions to make “23 must-have basics to stitch, use, and wear.”
From projects for the home, to a variety of bags, to clothing and accessories, there is something for everyone. These projects are all ones that you’ll love to wear, to carry, and to use. They will keep any sewist busy for a full year. Beautiful projects range from small to large, and are designed to have broad appeal. Coordinate with other projects and create the ultimate handmade style for all this and more.
Included in the book are:
- Two women’s garment patterns
- Accessories including clutches and bags
- Home Decor including quilts, baskets and a bench
Simplicity is key. Beginner and intermediate sewists will use Graham’s construction techniques to improve their skills. Everyone will appreciate the special features that make Handmade Style an outstanding craft book:
- Each project builds upon the other.
- It is a unique collection of refined, handmade looks.
- Clear illustrations inspire and instruct.
Thoughtful, hand-illustrated instructions abound in a clean and simple Japanese craft-book style. The inspiring photographs were shot on location near Anna’s home. Handmade Style is sure to become every sewists go-to project book.
Mini-Charm Quilts
Get ready to be charmed in many “mini” ways! Start with one, two, or three packs of 2 1/2″ mini-charm squares. Then choose a project from 18 celebrated Moda designers, including Lisa Bongean, Jen Kingwell, Jo Morton, Laurie Simpson, and Me and My Sister Designs. Let the mini-making begin!
These projects start with mini quilts and table toppers, and go further with other creative ideas using convenient pre-cuts. Projects include a pincushion, a runner, doll-quilt-and-pillow sets, in addition to a multitude of small quilts. Mini charms pack a mighty punch–and these fun patterns work like a charm!
Of course, we have some mini-charm packs on hand to purchase.
Wow! Lissa Alexander, who compiled this book, says this the introduction:
