What To Know:
Floriani Heat N Sta Fusible Fleece® and Heat N Sta Fusible Light Fleece® are versatile fusible quilt battings designed to add soft dimension, stability, and structure to embroidery and quilting projects—without the shifting or bulk of traditional batting. With a fusible side that holds the fleece securely in place, stitching can be as creative and free-form as you like.
Heat N Sta Fusible Fleece® is similar to traditional quilt batting but features a fusible backing that eliminates the need for quilting to maintain loft. It’s ideal for machine-embroidered quilts, T-shirt quilts, placemats, table runners, crib quilts, handbags, and home décor projects. This fleece is machine washable, dryer safe, and dry-cleaner friendly, making it both durable and easy to care for.
For lighter-weight projects, Heat N Sta Fusible Light Fleece® offers the same fusible convenience with a softer, more flexible feel. This super-light batting is perfect for non-bulky quilted garments, baby quilts, pillows, and accessories that need structure while still moving naturally with the fabric.
Because both products are fusible, they stay perfectly positioned during stitching—allowing for random or decorative quilting without shifting.
Preparing Fabric & Fusible Fleece
If your fabric is prone to shrinkage, pre-wash and pre-shrink before fusing.
Pre-shrink the fleece by gently steaming the non-fusible side just before pressing.
Creative Tip:
For an antiqued or vintage quilted look, skip pre-washing both fabric and fleece. Washing the finished project in warm water will cause the fabric to draw slightly around the fused fleece, creating a beautifully textured effect—especially striking with redwork designs on premium quilting cottons.
Fusing Heat N Sta Fusible Fleece®
Place the shiny, textured fusible side of the fleece against the wrong side of the fabric.
Using a medium heat setting, press with an iron or heat press. Steam is optional and will not harm the fleece.
Always allow the iron to touch the fabric only, not the fleece. Use a press cloth if needed.
Helpful Notes:
Steam can cause slight shrinkage—pre-shrink materials if shrinkage is not desired.
Cut the fleece at least one inch larger than your fabric piece and trim after fusing.
Since iron temperatures vary, start with a lower heat setting and increase gradually until a secure bond is achieved.
